During AI (Stockfish) games, we had a button that lets you view the board (the "Peek" button). However, having it so easily accessible made it tempting to overuse — and I was definitely guilty of that myself.
That said, it's also true that playing without any visual assistance at all can be quite tough.
The best solution, I thought, would be a setting to toggle the button's visibility.
If you're comfortable without the Peek button, try playing with it hidden.
Even if you do use it, you can also configure other settings — like hiding only your own pieces or making all pieces the same color — to gradually reduce visual assistance and work toward fully blindfold chess.
Give it a try!
