Endgame Used in The Mechanical Turk Exhibitions
Position Description
I recently had the opportunity to read The Turk. According to the book, during exhibitions in New York, games often began from endgame positions to keep the matches shorter. This is presented as one of the representative positions used for that purpose. The position is said to be winning for the side to move. Since the white and black pieces are arranged with point symmetry, it is relatively easy to memorize the position using the Board Symmetry technique: https://www.blindfold-chess.online/en/practice/board-symmetry
