Kota Okishima's thoughts on e4
I believe this is the most commonly played first move in chess.
Many players open with 1. e4, both online and in over-the-board games.
I started playing chess relatively late and have limited experience.
Rather than facing players who have studied the game since childhood in well-established openings, I feel it’s more effective to take them by surprise.
Competing against experienced players in classical openings is like an amateur boxer relying on textbook techniques against a seasoned opponent—the odds are simply not in my favor.
That’s why I stopped playing 1. e4 early in my chess journey.
These days, I always play the Frank Opening.
